As the world matured, proponents of racism desired a surer foundation for their worldview and racist public policies, and nothing provided a firmer foundation than science. Throughout the 1800s and well into the 1900s, the racial science labored to transform the myths of the age of slavery and the more modern racist fictions of the Ku Klux Klan into scientifically certified facts. Rather than scientific fields providing a haven from racist propaganda, they often acted as the primary incubator for monstrous racial ideas.
