So here we all are, folks, Crossing paths in a stuck world that’s ready for something different – but what? I’ve been wrestling with the possibilities for years now without realizing it: stumbling onto people and their bottomless stories, following this compulsion to help us come together and understand each other precisely where it’s hard, and always, in the background, loving and learning from parents whose politics are at constant war with my own.
All of that, plus watching our world lurch and stagger through its challenges, with everyone from leaders to neighbors weaving their disparate threads into knots but trying really hard not to – kept me coming back to one question: What is keeping us from seeing each other, and how do we get it (the hell) out of our way?
