From “Walk with Me: A Journey through the Landscape of Trauma” by Ellen Corcella
We think people miss God’s call because they are doing something “evil” or “bad.” But we also miss God’s call by diverting our attention and prioritizing our desires above God’s whispers. Facing my childhood fears was not on my agenda. Becoming a chaplain was not on my agenda. Weighty matters – like saving the world – were my agenda. I knew God understood and agreed with my perspective. I also know, now, that we twist and contort our lives to avoid that path God places in front of us, rather than taking the time to listen to God and, if needed, asking for strength to face the next challenge.
